At Monkey Puzzle West Kensington, we love celebrating important moments in history and helping our little learners connect with the past in meaningful, age-appropriate ways. This week, our nursery was filled with the spirit of remembrance and celebration as we marked VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) with a special afternoon tea party!

VE Day, observed on May 8th, marks the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. It’s a day to remember the sacrifices made and to celebrate peace. While our children are still very young, introducing them to the significance of this day through hands-on experiences helps build a foundation for understanding history, community, and tradition.

Our nursery was transformed into a festive space filled with colour and joy. The children got busy crafting their very own bunting, carefully decorating each piece with bright colours, patterns, and stickers. They also made beautiful crowns, adding a royal touch to the occasion! The creativity and effort they put into their work was truly heart warming.

Of course, no celebration would be complete without a proper afternoon tea! The children sat together to enjoy a traditional spread featuring finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. It was a lovely opportunity to practice their social skills, use their manners, and simply enjoy one another’s company.

The afternoon was a perfect blend of learning, creativity, and fun. Most importantly, it gave the children a chance to come together and reflect on a special part of our shared history—through play, crafts, and tasty food.

Thank you to our wonderful team for organising such a meaningful event, and to all the children for their enthusiasm and imagination. We’re so proud of how they embraced the day!
