Nursery Practitioner

What is your name and role?

My name is Lucy Coulthard, and I am currently a Level 2 Nursery Practitioner, studying for my Level 3.

How did you find the Apprenticeship Scheme process?

I found the Apprenticeship Scheme through my place of work which was a simple process.

How are you supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career? (What training/development do you access)

I receive in house training and am always informed of any extra training that is available. We have direct access to Monkey Puzzle’s internal training platform, which is easy for us practitioners, and also have the support from our Quality Manager.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

I have always enjoyed working with children, being able to see that I have helped them learn, grow and develop, even if it is the smallest thing. If we can make a difference, it makes me feel accomplished because all the children are our future and I enjoy being a part of that process of education.

What is your potential next step?

My potential next step would be to finally complete my Level 3 and learn more about SEND and potentially become a SENDCO.

What would you say to anyone looking to become an Early Years apprentice?

I would say that you must be dedicated! It’s not an easy job but if you have the right attitude and willingness, you will thrive in this industry.
