With the change of weather, getting colder, Caterpillars will be talking about winter and looking at the different clothes we wear, so please bring in your woolly hats, scarves, gloves and warm coats. The older Caterpillars will be practising dressing themselves whilst getting ready for the garden, such as putting their own hats and coats on and off.
Caterpillars will be exploring the cold through different types of ice cube play, for instance one day they might be coloured, and another day they might contain objects for the Caterpillars to get out of the ice.
With Bonfire night on the 5th November 2017, Caterpillars are creating their own pictures using paint and glitter and exploring how big of an explosion they can create.
‘Thanksgiving’ is on Thursday 23rd November 2017, we will be making an art and craft Turkey and exploring feathers through different activities.
Christmas is coming up, and we anticipate fun times, so in November we will be starting our Christmas decorations. We will be practising and learning new songs about winter and Christmas. Our Christmas party is on Thursday 7th December 2017 at 3pm and all parents are invited.
Please bring in empty containers; boxes; kitchen rolls; and other materials that we could use for our junk modelling. There is a box just inside the door in Caterpillar room.
With the change of time we can feel that winter is coming and in Butterflies we are getting ready by reading ‘Jack Frost’. We will be doing activities based on the ‘Jack Frost’ book such as creating snowflakes and counting them.
We are enjoying making firework pictures using paint and glitter to celebrate Bonfire night on Sunday 5th November 2017. Butterflies will be watching short clips about fireworks, to learn about fireworks in a safe way.
On Thursday 23rd November 2017 is Thanksgiving, Butterflies will be creating their own Turkeys and designing a vegetable print picture.
We will continue to practice turn taking, we will wait with our hands together on top of our placemats at meal times and we will line up to go to the garden.
We will also continue to learn to count in different languages.
On Wednesday 6th December 2017 at 3:30pm, Butterflies will be holding their Christmas Concert, parents are invited to come and watch.
This month is full of celebrations from Birthdays to festivals. Preschool will be organising loads of activities to celebrate their special days by making banners; cards; writing wishes; baking cakes; making birthday crowns and singing the Happy Birthday song in different languages.
Throughout November, Preschool will be celebrating festivals such as Bonfire night (Guy Fawkes) on 5th November 2017; Remembrance Day on 11th November 2017; Children in Need on 16th November 2017. Preschool will be learning about the importance of these days through arts and crafts; stories; songs; and group conversations.
Holiday season is around the corner, so Preschool will be slowly getting ready. By practising songs for our Christmas concert on Friday 8th December 2017 at 3:30pm, parents are invited to come and watch the concert.
